Delete-ey stuff
[edit]I deleted the large section of text :-
The reasons of his departure are quite foggy, considering the fact that Alan was solid standing member for most part of Oasis history. Nevertheless, the Gallagher brothers stressed many times that he is one of the best (if not the best) sticksmen they've ever worked with. Noel always said that Whitey was more than a session and touring drummer for Oasis and that he helped immensly in the recording process. When he had written a song he played it to Whitey, then the latter changed the rhythm of the song or advised Noel to change the tempo for both doing the best on the upshot.
It should be noted that he was the only member who was spare with much cocaine usage (although he liked drinking) apart from the Gallaghers and the only one who survived for most part of Oasis' career, due not only to his skills, but undeniably as well as to his temper. A notable act is when two original members Paul Arthurs and Paul McGuigan left, Alan White elected to remain with the band, providing his exceptional drumming on two more records with Oasis.
With the facts that he performed on 5 records, giving definite different drum-playing on each of them and also touring for the most part of band's history, his indisputable talent and abilities are exceptional. His contribution to the band can't be denied and Whitey definitely was an important component in forming the significant and trademark Oasis sound. Whatever the future holds for him, he remains a proven and gifted drummer and probably soon will display again his superb drum-skills and talent.
I can't see how it is relevent. It's Very POV, the grammer is confused, it apeeared out of place and it reads more like a fan-page on White than an objective article. We don't need a "Verdict" on why he left the band, because we don't really know anyway. I've salvaged bits and peices of it which I want to work into the rest of the article, but I don't see the need to leave the rest of it in. --Crestville 15:38, 14 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Its odd that somebody re-added all the stuff about Noel attributing much of the Oasis sound to Whitey. I think its BS -- where's the support? Noel composed alone from what we all know.
Namesake
[edit]Is it really necessary to say "not to be confused with the drummer for Yes"? I hardly think anyone would confuse the two. The disambiguation page Alan White should do the trick. Camillus (talk) 18:44, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
